The 2021 Christian Writers Market Guide Is Here

What are your writing plans for 2021? Is there a new publication where you want to send your article or devotional? Is there a conference you’d like to attend, virtually or in-person? Do you need an editor or an agent for your project?

This past year has taught us that things can change suddenly. The publishing industry is no different. Each year, dozens of agents and editors move from one company to another and others retire while new editors take their places. Some publications have to shutter their doors while others start something new. Magazines rethink their content focus. New freelance editors hang out their shingles. Sending your query to the wrong person at an agency or a periodical or a publishing house is not the path to success.

So what do you do?

The answer is The Christian Writers Market Guide 2021. It is packed with more than 1,000 updated entries about publishers, agents, editors, and other industry professionals. You have no idea how many publishing options there are until you hold all 496 pages in your hand (or search the information in the online version of the book).

The 2021 edition is carefully curated to help you advance your writing career. I’ve heard some writers say, “I can get any of this stuff on the Internet!” My reply is quite simple: “Do you trust Mr. Google?” We strive to make sure our information is accurate and usable and not left to the algorithms of a search engine.

In addition, the Writers Digest annual Market Guide is not being released for 2021! So ours is the only curated, one-stop shop for our writing industry.

We have also included throughout the print edition more than $500 worth of coupons for courses in The Christian Writers Institute related to the section of the guide where the coupons are found. (Available in the print edition only.)

See a sample section from a previous version of the Guide. (The layout is still the same, but the information is updated.)

The official publication date is tomorrow, December 15th. We are providing a link to for your convenience. The retail price of the print edition is $29.99, and we cannot influence what Amazon charges. But as of this morning the book is on sale for $24.99. Hopefully, you can also find a copy of the book at any of your favorite retailers.

Don’t miss the special price for the online edition below.

Or get the online version – only $9.99 for a full year!

Every piece of information in the print edition is on the site, but the advantage of the online version is that it is updated regularly throughout the year. Plus you can save your searches for later access. Click the image to the right for more information. Only $9.99 per year.

The annual price works out to less than 85 cents a month!

Debby, the link has been re-established. It should open to a PDF now.

You can also visit the “Look Inside” feature which is now “live.”

Make sure you are not confusing the print edition (which is also in ebook form) with the online version.

The online version is a subscription which once subscribed you have the option to auto-renew each year.

If you subscribed to the online version in 2019, you will receive an email letting you know that it will auto-renew on the anniversary of your original subscription.

If you bought the print edition or any of its ebook editions, that will not renew.

If you go to and click on the menu item for the Market Guide you’ll be taken to the online edition site. There you can log in using your ID and password. If you can access it today, you are already subscribed and will auto-renew as mentioned above.

    Hope that helps!

Yes, I have the online subscription and it is amazing. That answers my question. Thank you. Have a blessed holiday!

Tell your elves to move quickly. There will not be a second printing of the Guide if the first printing sells out.

That is a challenge for an Annual product.

What a wonderful resource! I can’t believe Writer’s Digest isn’t producing their guide this year, crazy! So glad that you have us covered.

Why Random House would buy the assets of Writers Digest Books and then not take advantage of the books is beyond bewildering.

Even the subscription site is down.

Maybe it will be revived in 2022.

I do know that it can be expensive to create the annual guide and maintain the upkeep of the online version. But still. A great resource for the general market has been lost or at least paused.

I was thrilled to get a notice that my pre-order from last May is shipping! I have to have the print version. I love thumbing through a market guide while sipping coffee.

Glad to know the system works. You also saved big since back in May Amazon had preorders priced at nearly half off the regular retail!

I like to remind everyone, all the time, that Amazon is like a massive bookstore in the sky. The publisher cannot tell Amazon at what price to sell a book.

And then the prices will fluctuate. One day it’s one price, the next day it is different.

      Fun times.

I received my copy in the mail (from Anchor distributors and my local bookstore). Thanks for this great resource! The links for discounted courses at the Christian Writer’s Institute are a great benefit.
