The 2022 Christian Writers Market Guide Is Here … Almost

We’ve all been hearing about supply chain issues. Well, they have come to roost on the 2022 Christian Writers Market Guide. Despite finishing our work early and planning for labor shortages and paper shortages, the actual delays in the printing business were worse than imagined. Thus, the publication date, originally set for tomorrow, December 14, had to be moved to January 21, 2022. I’m sorry this happened.

Options if You Can’t Wait
1. The ebook will release tomorrow on Amazon as planned. Only $9.99 and available for preorder.
2. The online version is always available and always up-to-date throughout the year. Only $9.99 for a 12-month subscription. Thousands of writers have used this service since we launched it in 2017.
3. Preorder your paperback edition, and it will be shipped early if the books arrive early. Here are three options:

a. Amazon: no sale price as of this writing but will take preorders.
b. has it on preorder sale as of this writing for 27% off! (
c. will have it on sale (no preorder button available) for 32% off the day it is released (ShopTheWord link.)
d. Barnes and Noble: no sale price as of this writing but will take preorders.

What the Market Guide Is Designed to Do

What are your writing plans for 2022? Is there a new publication where you want to send your article or devotion? Is there a conference you’d like to attend, virtually or in-person? Do you need a freelance editor or a literary agent for your project?

These past couple of years have taught us that things can change suddenly. The publishing industry is no different. Each year, dozens of agents and editors move from one company to another, and others retire while new editors take their places. Some publications have to shut their doors while others start something new. Magazines rethink their content focus. New freelance editors hang out their shingles. Sending your query to the wrong person at an agency or a periodical or a publishing house is not the path to success.

So what do you do?

The answer is The Christian Writers Market Guide 2022. It is packed with more than 1,000 updated entries about publishers, agents, editors, and other industry professionals. You have no idea how many publishing options there are until you hold all 480 pages in your hand (or search the information in the online version of the book).

The 2022 edition has been carefully curated to help you advance your writing career. I’ve heard some writers say, “I can get any of this stuff on the Internet!” My reply is quite simple: “Do you trust Mr. Google?” We strive to make sure our information is accurate and usable and not left to the algorithms of a search engine.

Ours is the only curated, one-stop shop for the Christian writing industry.

See a sample section from a previous version of the Guide. (The layout is similar, but the information is updated.)

The official publication date is January 21, 2022, instead of tomorrow. Hopefully, once it is released, you can also find a copy of the book at any of your favorite retailers.

OR get the online version – only $9.99 for a full year!

Every piece of information in the print edition is on the site, but the advantage of the online version is that it is updated regularly throughout the year. Plus you can save your searches for later access. Click the image to the right for more information. Only $9.99 per year.

The annual price works out to less than 85 cents a month!

Steve, I am so grateful for your annual effort on the Market Guide. Without the guide many of us would be too intimidated to attempt to write for publication.

Thank you. It is a unique reference work to be sure.

    Well, this is a challenge.

    It’s not easy being Christian,
    not today, not any more,
’cause you might just get a visitin’,
Thought Police right at your door.
I hear in Europe there are places
where there’s Scripture one can’t preach
    and it’s jail time that one faces;
Satan’s got a real long reach.
Someone sneezes in the break room
and you tell ’em “God bless you!”,
you may have sealed employment doom,
HR says that you are through,
but there’s no Heaven if you hide,
so get the Christian Writer’s Market Guide!

    Thanks for the update.
I think I’m on the list to receive the CWMG each year. If that’s correct, do I need to do anything to be sure to get the book version when available?

The auto-ship option ended many years ago when Sally Stuart no longer handled the product.

If you wish to receive the print edition you’ll have to order it online at one of the options listed in the above post.

      Thank you!

I received my billing invoice for the 2022 online edition, but I’m not sure how to access it. Past years’ editions have been available through Kindle, but it doesn’t seem to be there.

    • Steve Laube December 14, 2021 at 10:52 am #

The kindle edition is something you purchase directly from Amazon.

The online edition is accessed by subscription (for which it appears you have been billed) via the website at:
Log in with your username and password and you have unfettered access.

But if you wish to have a Kindle edition you must purchase it from Amazon.
