Someone Hacked My Website

And a “Merry Christmas” to me… (sarcasm dripping).

In the last 24 hours someone hacked my web site by utilizing a security hole in my host server. They didn’t need even my password! They were able to piggyback on these blog posts and added 853 scripts to my web site redirecting visitors to malicious sites. These little beasts are also known as Malware.

All scripts have been cleaned. And a complaint has been registered to my host server company (godaddy.com).

To put it simply? If you are visiting anyone’s site and it suddenly starts telling you that you have a virus and that you need to clean your computer by downloading something…don’t do it! If you must download the file (usually has an .exe extension on the file name), then don’t click, instead DELETE that vicious spawn.

I must apologize if you visited the site in the last 24 hours and were attacked. Our site is now completely clean (thanks to Thomas Umstaddt at www.umstattdmedia.com).

May you enjoy a bounty of Christmas cheer as you celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ!

I can’t imagine how frustrating this would be — and how time-consuming to clear up. It would be overwhelming.

It also gives me pause, as my Websites and blogs are also with GoDaddy.

Despite this, I who you can reclaim the Christmas spirit and have a wonderful Christmas.
