Blind pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii plays his own composition at Carnagie Hall. The piece is titled “Elegy for the Victims of the Tsunami of March 11, 2011 in Japan.”
Around the three minute mark you’ll see something very touching as he performs.
Does your own writing move you?
Michael Emmanuel
I do have a few moments of uncertainty when my protagonist is going through such, and tears slipped when I wrote a touching scene. Nothing much but that…
I try to keep in mind this quote, ‘No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader…’
It’s a really hard but lovable work…

Beautiful composition! And he continued to play flawlessly.
I always say my manuscript isn’t done if I haven’t made myself laugh at least once and cry at least once. (And not because the writing is SO bad. 😉 )

It’s been truly said that if your writing doesn’t move you, it won’t move anyone else. So far, my writing has made me giggle and made me mad. Just not at the same time though.
🙂
God bless you in your efforts for HIM

Truly beautiful, and I know the feeling. I play hymns and praise songs as part of my devotions, and I can never get past the second verse of “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us” without crying. I just make sure I lean back so the tears don’t drip on the keys.
I put my characters through emotional wringers on the way to an “emotionally satisfying” ending, and I can go through several Kleenex when I’m writing and editing one of those sections. Sometimes they make me cry when I read them later. I wrote one very short (240 word) scene of the family patriarch helping a little girl face becoming lion food. The impact of his martyrdom echoes through four other novels in the historical series. I can’t even think about that scene without tearing up.

The music was so inspiring. Thanks for sharing it, Steve, and for planting the idea that, if our writing doesn’t move us, how can we inspire others? Great wisdom there!

So moving!

I’m always amazed by gifts like this. Thank you for sharing.
In writing our recently finished book, my husband and I re-lived many tearful scenes. The book is a raw account of who we used to be. I am not gifted in music or art. My prayer is always that the words I share will be of His heart and therefore bring glory to Him. I do consider my writing time a for of worship.
BTW: Thanks for all you do to keep us inspired. I have gained much in following your blog.
