This is a video of an author who, after extreme effort, finally gets published.

Talk about the run-around! I’ve been advised to build a literary clientele by blogging in bullet points because people don’t like to read! The irony astounds me. So yeah, squirrel, you’re rocking this thing. Do whatever it takes and keep your eyes on the prize!
Elisabeth Warner
Thanks for this laugh! That squirrel jumped higher than I thought it could. There’s definitely a spiritual lesson in there somewhere, but the message to authors is clear: If we try hard enough, we can do what seems impossible!
Sharon K. Connell
We should all take a lesson from this squirrel. Use the old adage, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” We just have to keep working at it. Smart squirrel. Thanks for the giggle this morning, Steve.

I can’t imagine how long it took that squirrel to master the course. Great lesson and fun video. 🙂

Loved how when he got halfway through the course, one of the obstacles stumped him for a bit, but he quickly got his bearings and kept going. Nothing like drinking from a fire hose sometimes, or swinging from one idea or plan to the next!
I think I’ll watch it again. Maybe there’s something I missed…

[after watching it again]
Yep, there was a downturn on the spinner-tightrope a little over halfway through, and the squirrel wasn’t sure what to do. Will these things twist on me, or can I leap across as lightly as possible and avoid a career disaster…? Also, at the very beginning, he just stared. For nearly twenty seconds, as if he was going into t-sleep. Hey, that’s how long it takes for a consumer to decide whether or not to buy a book…
Oh … the similarities … of learning from a squirrel on an obstacle course.
Not sure how I feel about that.
Mary Felkins
Impressive effort, nicely rewarded at the end! So as not to be outdone by a squirrel I’m off to write and do the hard thing of getting to the prize.
Katie Powner
LOL, I loved that! Although I’m pretty sure that’s actually a video of me trying to sneak ice cream from the freezer without my kids noticing.

That’s just nuts!

Hi Steve,
Another great Fun Friday. I agree with all of the replies, and some of them are great thought-provokers and others, giggle-worthy.
As for me and my house . . . (to mangle some Scripture), I see it as (I can’t resist this from one of the above comments):
* Spiritual. Patience in adversity (synopsis). Thankful in all things (rejections). Humility (drop your pride, you ain’t right).
* Physical: Don’t forget to eat, breathe, or exercise. Don’t pull your hair out. You’ll need your hair when you go to your conferences (unless you are already bald).
* Writing: Learn the craft even though it may take years. And years. After all that, you still aren’t done learning. Proof your work. Do it again. Gimme 50 push ups!
*Submitting: yes, submit and humble yourself first before the Lord, and then, your agent. Delete your knee-jerk reaction-emails. Accept criticism. — see *1: you ain’t right. Go through the process and ahem, ‘fight the good fight. Finish the race.’
Afterward, pray. A lot. You still have to fly through the air.
This made giggle. Thank you, as I am down to the last 60 pages of proofing (again). Posting this on my author page!

And all along the way he’s thinking, “Will they give me peanuts or cashews?”
Peter DeHaan
I had to see it to believe it! (I mean the squirrel, not publishing a book.)

Just because your tail is between your legs, it doesn’t mean you’re beaten. It may mean you’re able to leap farther to eventual success.
Sheri Dean Parmelee, Ph.D
That is so …accurate, from what I’ve experienced…..no offense.

Wow, Steve! I think that squirrel has some relatives in our yard. Great post!

THIS IS INCREDIBLE…. SMART SQUIRREL FOR SURE! THE POWER OF TREATS!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!
