Today is St. Valentine’s Day.
How appropriate for a literary agent who loves and represents lots of Christian romance novels!
Valentine’s Day is a favorite in our house. As a newlywed, I bought a heart-shaped cake on our first Valentine’s Day together to celebrate. Later, I bought a heart-shaped cake pan so I can bake a cake myself. That first year I also cut my husband’s sandwich for his lunch into the shape of a heart. But he telephoned from work and said that my efforts made the sandwich too small! After all these years, I still like to treat him to an extra-special dinner and tie a balloon to his chair, though.
Whether or not you write romance novels, my wish for you is that you will experience the joys of all types of love in your life — romantic, familial, and friendship. Each day I praise the Lord for the people He has placed in my life, a divine demonstration of His perfect love.

What a fun post, Tamela. My husband and I don’t usually celebrate on “the day.” We usually go out for dinner sometime around Valentine’s Day. The key for me is to celebrate the love my hubby and I share, and we do so in different ways. I love your traditions!
My characters do celebrate Valentine’s Day in a belated way, and it turns into a disaster. Sigh. I’m so mean to them. 🙂

I think I’m still scarred from Valentine’s Day as a teenager 🙂 My kids LOVE it though! They were so happy bringing their valentine bags to school today.
Lisa, I remember those days — as both a child and as a mother
— those tiny Valentine’s Day cards that came 24 or 48 to a box. I had the mumps in first grade and had to miss the day at school. But they sent me my cards. Oh, what FUN!
My husband proposed on Valentine’s Day, 21 years ago. Best Valentine’s Day ever!

I never thought about adding a Valentine’s Day scene to my books. Nice idea! We don’t have any traditions, other than my hubby always buys me a little box of dark chocolates. And I always eat them right away so I can get back on my diet.

Jan, that’s right — if we don’t eat all the chocolate right away, it will only be there there to tempt us later! LOL
But if your hubby is like mine, he’ll be glad to assist you in making sure the chocolate disappears quickly!

Tamela, I might have to give you a high five…Do you make your hubby lunch everyday or just on V-day? For 11 years I’ve been making my hubby lunch and for 11 years I’ve been harassed by my girlfriends and siblings, telling me I’m crazy and that he can make his own lunch. But I love the guy! Please tell me I’m not alone…

I loved your story, Tamela, especially about the little heart-shaped sandwich. 🙂 For Valentine’s Day, I’m looking forward to a date with my husband to the new Mexican restaurant in town. About an hour ago, my children surprised me with a beautiful homemade Valentine’s Day card that I had to find after completing a fun scavenger hunt around the entire house. 🙂

When I was a wee thing in school, and we chipped our Valentines from any loose rocks we could find outside the cave, it wasn’t mandatory to give everyone a card. Just the kids you liked.
Even now, I can feel the sadness creep in. BUT, right now, our lobster pasta is warming, so yeah, it’s all good.
I need to research more about Valentine’s Day in 1836 for my WIP. Since my story is set in 19th century Key West it will include a conch shell, and love notes hidden within.
