Watch this fun performance of twelve pianists playing at the same time. It could have been called “Piano for 24 Hands.”
There is a metaphor here. This performance is a bit like the publishing experience. If you look closely, you can see editorial, sales, marketing, and some booksellers all working from the same page of music. Music written by an author who is not on the stage!
Twelve apostles sent abroad
to play a Gospel tune.
Some heard them and their hearts were awed,
for some it was too soon.
Twelve apostles, two by two,
with no money or food,
relying on what good people do
when in a gracious mood.
Twelve apostles, home at last;
what stories they’d share then
about the nets that they had cast,
as new fishers of men
with the Christ from Galilee
who wants the same from you and me
One of your best, Andrew. Thank you!
This one really put the fun in Friday for me. I watched it a few times, and even though I do not write fiction, I couldnt help wondering about the relationships between these musicians. Were there some romances there, some rivalries? Clearly many friendships. I wonder how many novels could be written about this amazing performance.
What an awesome idea you have for the story behind the performance!
Bravo! I’ll be the person who stands and snaps her fingers and holds her chest without actually playing much. My piano teacher’s happiest day was when I told her I was quitting. I’ve got rhythm but not much else in the way of musical talent. Such is life.
I think we had the same music teacher. There were no follow-up calls after I quit. But Sheri, I do believe that God gave each of us other gifts or talents to use to make our world a better place. I wrote a children’s book called ‘I’m Special Too’ with a section in the back where parents can discuss with their child how they are special and record it. I hope the child holds on to the book and, years later, will look back and know that someone thought they were special. In our case, Sheri, it just won’t be music.
Delightful. I’m looking forward to a piano in Heaven. I live in a senior complex, was given a beautiful piano, but had to give it up, because my neighbor complained about it being used for all of fifteen minutes! Boo-hoo! Doesn’t seem fair.
That performance deserves a “note.” Perfect harmony times twelve! Amazing.
What an awesome performance. I’m amazed at the choreography of so many people who don’t trip over or impede each other but trust each other to make the performance a unified whole. This is what makes traditional publishing so valuable even in our era of independence. Every hand is necessary.
This is glorious… they all know the same music, they all play beautifully, they are coordinated and willing to work together! What a blessing!! God created perfect harmony!!!! And He receives all the praise! Hallelujah!
Oh, Steve, you outdid yourself! What an incredible, joy-giving performance that you linked to publishing. Thank you very much! The responses are great, too. Kudos!
