If you could ask me ANY question you wanted about writing or publishing for the Christian writer, what would your question be?
Here is your chance. I will be the guest on a live 70 minute TeleSeminar hosted by Terry Whalin tomorrow, January 17th at 5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern Time. The event is free.
All you need to do is write your question at http://www.askstevelaube.com.
In exchange for entering your question and email address you will receive a PDF of my 47-page ebook, Book Proposal Tips & Tricks. Plus you’ll receive phone access and webcast access to Terry Whalin and me for the LIVE telecast. You simply call-in and listen to the conversation.
If you can’t make the time of the call, please go ahead and sign up anyway. The entire teleseminar will be recorded and everyone who signs up will receive an email with the replay link.
For questions that cannot be fit into the time restraints I will try to get them answered in future blog posts.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Awesome, thanks Steve! Some welcome good news after my car broke down this morning.

What a neat opportunity! Love the chance to pick your brain. 😉

Hi again Steve – I’m looking forward to reading your ebook, but all I received when I submitted a question was a picture of the book cover. If there are special instructions for opening it, could you possibly add those to your post please? Thanks!
Katie Powner
I found the link to download the full ebook in my junk folder. So if anyone signs up for the teleconference, be sure to check all your folders!

Katie,
That is a great reminder to everyone. Whenever you give your email address in exchange for something like a download you should check your spam folder. They often come from a site your security may have not seen before.
Sorry it took a bit for you to find the ebook. Hope it gives some help.

My question is: How do I get noticed without breaking the law? There must be a quick way to get and build a platform so that my book can be published……without committing a serious crime or irritating anyone…..
Steve Laube
Sheri,
If you want to put that question into the queue for the TeleSeminar, please use the link in the post above. Terry Whalin is keeping track of all the questions since he will be hosting the show.

Hi, Sheri:
“There must be a quick way to get and build a platform so that my book can be published”.
I mean this the nicest way possible when I say this: you’re looking at this from a perspective that may only serve to frustrate you more. There is no “quick” way because that implies it’s easy. It isn’t. Writing and publishing and building a platform involves work. A lot of hard work. There is no such thing as overnight success.
That said, I would encourage you to carefully analyze two things:
1. What are my goals to publishing a book?
2. What does my book bring to readers that other books like it do not?
Looking at your website it certainly appears you’re off to a very good start. Take it from someone who has been writing and publishing for almost 20 years, and gone down just about every publishing path imaginable. I am STILL working on finding a readership. Content is king in today’s markets. Based on what I see you offer, I would highly recommend you start with magazine articles. Don’t wait for subscribers to find your blog, go after the markets that are looking for your content. Seek out advice at Christian Writers Institute from Dennis Hensley. “Doc” is like a magazine article-writing king! That guy is a machine and we would all do well to listen to him often.
Finally, I say don’t give up and don’t look for the easy path. Look for the BEST path to get your message to the right folks and you WILL succeed! I have a personal burden now for you, and will pray for you, as I nearly lost my wife to cancer last year so it’s true there are people that need to know what you know. I wish you the very best in your endeavors. God bless and good writing to you!

I haven’t received a link to the teleseminar yet. Will they be sent at a later time? Thanks, Steve!
Bob
Steve: regrettably, I couldn’t sign up. We’re from Wisconsin and were traveling to FL (by car) to help our 44 year old son who had unexpected heart by-pass surgery. Hopefully there will be a site at which we can see the questions and your responses. Regards, Bob

A really wonderful interview, insightful as always, Steve. I even sent Terry a kudos e-mail after the thing letting him know how much I appreciated it. And thank YOU for giving us one of your most precious commodities: your time!
Just an FYI: I highly recommend the Christian Writers Market Guide, fellow scribes! I’d registered even before the teleseminar. The yearly cost for the online version can’t be beat, and as Steve pointed out you get updates immediately as they become available.

Thanks to all who participated in yesterday’s Teleseminar! We had over 130 questions submitted so, of course, there was no way to address them all. I will use some of them as fodder for future blog posts, hopefully they can all be answered.
For those who were unable to attend the live presentation but signed up, Terry Whalin is working on cleaning up the audio (removing silences at the beginning and end) and will send out a link to a final version that you can listen to at your leisure.
At some point in the future I would like to post the Teleseminar over at the Christian Writers Institute site for anyone to listen. But for now, those who signed up will have exclusive access.
