As the year draws to a close and the holiday season approaches, it’s the perfect time for content creators to pause, reflect, and cultivate gratitude. In our fast-paced world, where the demands of content creation often leave us in a constant state of hustle, the joy of gratitude can be easily overlooked. However, taking a moment to be thankful for the connections, opportunities, and creative ideas we’ve experienced throughout the year can be a game-changer. I want to offer practical ways to rest, recover, and refresh before diving headfirst into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the new year and the following seasons.
In the whirlwind of content creation, it’s easy to become consumed by the pursuit of success, numbers, and constant progress. However, the practice of gratitude offers a profound shift in perspective. Instead of relentlessly chasing what’s next, gratitude invites us to celebrate what we’ve already achieved and the connections we’ve formed. It encourages us to recognize and appreciate the value we’ve created in the lives of our audience and ourselves.
One of the most potent aspects of gratitude is its ability to help us celebrate our accomplishments. As writers or speakers, we’re constantly setting goals, launching new projects, and striving for growth. In this relentless pursuit, it’s common to downplay successes, always looking ahead to the next challenge or summit. Gratitude reminds us to stop and acknowledge how far we’ve come, the milestones we’ve reached, and the impact we’ve had on our audiences.
For me, I always try to find meaningful ways to celebrate the work and invite others to join in. I keep confetti cannons in my office drawer and let my kiddos fire them off when I accomplish a goal, hit a new sales record, or pass a significant milestone. My advice? Make it fun and share it.
And, in the whirlwind of holiday preparations and the hustle and bustle of the season, writers and authors often find themselves grappling with stress and exhaustion. It’s crucial to acknowledge the need for rest, recovery, and refreshment before launching into the final stretch of the year. Before you tune me out on the ol’ rest lecture, it is beyond important to connect the dots between contentment, gratitude, and the ability to rest. It’s easy to strive, set aside rest, and keep hammering. But don’t. Take it from me. Approaching Advent from a place of deep and abiding rest could be just what you need.
Before diving headfirst into holiday content and year-end projects, take a moment to step back and reflect. Review the year’s accomplishments, challenges, and the impact of your work. Consider what you’re thankful for, both personally and professionally. Reflect on the positive aspects of your journey, and recharge. Make self-care a priority during this season.
Whether it’s spending quality time with loved ones, taking a relaxing break, or indulging in activities that bring you joy, self-care is essential for replenishing your creative well. Set clear boundaries and plan your work strategically. This will help you manage seasonal challenges without overwhelming yourself. Ensure that you have a realistic schedule that allows for both work and downtime.
Cultivating gratitude as a content creator is not just a seasonal practice—it’s a year-round strategy for success. It enables us to appreciate our accomplishments, cherish the connections we’ve made, and find inspiration in the opportunities and ideas that continue to unfold. As we approach the holiday season, take a moment to rest, recover, and refresh. Embrace the grace of gratitude, and allow it to guide you toward real rest. Remember, success is not only about the destination but also the appreciation of the journey itself–enjoying God’s gifts and honoring Him with them.

Self-care’s self-flagellation,
self-care’s a torture test,
self-care’s self-abnegation,
and there now can be no rest
with energies a-fadin’ fast,
and so much left undone,
but knowing that this cannot last
does not blot out the sun,
for I have learned a thing or three
as I’m stripped down to the bone,
that herein lies my victory,
and I need not bemoan
the graces good, no longer mine,
for these fell days are my time to shine.

I am thankful for this website and all those who participate. It’s been a pleasure and growth curve for me.
We can be thankful for life from God, and for others in our lives who let us grow up, did not abort us, and encouraged us along our journeys. However, the roaring lion seeking whom he may devour is still around us, doing his dastardly works.
To shine some joy I want to mention a local pastor who received life and healing from Utopia Wellness, Tampa Florida and their care. He came home from a six week stay with no cancer. Months later, a check up confirmed the more natural total health live-in facility treatment had rid him of his cancer.
The weekly live-in charge for room is reasonable. Must have your own transportation. Perhaps this will add to another’s praise for life and help.
His chemo was going to be 40,000. The cost in Florida’s clinic was like 4,000…plus room. He talked with his insurance who said they would pay for the Florida treatment if he wanted. This saved the pastor’s life and money, and saved lots of money for the insurance company.
