I’ve often wondered how the Jewish children memorized vast sections of The Law. I’m guessing that a lot of them set Scripture to music, if only to facilitate memorization. The Psalmists did, too. I, for one, still sing through the Alphabet Song in my head whenever I need to alphabetize anything, and one long favorite passage in Philippians 4 readily comes to mind because I wrote music for it many years ago–“Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice…!” Thanks, Steve! Challenging and fun!
