Happy Valentine’s Day!
It is well known that behind every man there is an even better woman. I am here to testify to that fact. My wife and I have been married for 43 1/2 years; and without her, I would be half the man I am today.
She is what came to mind when I heard this classic song the other day:
Some have said that God made me
from parts found in the bargain bin,
but, Barb, when it comes to thee,
where on Earth can I begin?
You put up with nicknames piquant
that I work hard to find;
“Shazaaam! The Golden Elephant”
is one that comes to mind,
and you even tolerate
the songs composed on your behalf
that, well, may not be so great,
but at least they make you laugh:
“Up, up, and away” (you know the Motown tune)
“with Barb, my beautiful baboon.”
Hahaha! That’s a blast from the past!
Steve, a couple of months ago, Alean and I went to a concert at Mount Baker Theater in Bellingham, Washington so see Grand Funk on their “Locomotion Tour.” It is not something I would have chosen to do, but Alean was adamant that we should go. Brother, these mid-eighties guys were up there on that stage rockin’ it!! I had SO much fun.
Looking around there were a LOT of us silver haird folks. People had canes, and walkers and wheel chairs and oxygen tanks, yet there were some who were up and dancing in the aisles. It was such a fun night.
Classic track! Thanks for sharing today, Steve!
A classic GFR song. I also love former GFR singer, guitarist and songwriter Mark Farner’s revision of this song where it becomes a song of praise about Jesus, who is truly some kind of wonderful.
Happy Valentine’s Day.
I’m going to go show this to my husband.
Good tune.
Happy Valentine’s Day. I plan to show this to my husband as well!!
