For today’s Fun Friday, we are celebrating something early. National Pi Day is 3.14. (Get it?) This means next Tuesday is the official Pi day.
This creative musician has created a song based on the numbers of Pi, assigning a key to each digit. Brilliant.
And even more fun are the explanatory notes you get to read while you listen.
Enjoy!

It has a celebration day,
oh me, oh me, oh my,
and I really have to say
that I do love my pi.
It’s sitting on my calculator,
alert, always prepared to spring
out as a circle’s arbitrator,
precision for to bring
to the odd circumference
(some of which are truly strange),
and area by inference
that with squared radius doth engage
to warm and soothe my math-y heart
while circle sectors I compart.
Bravo, Andrew!
Dear Andrew,
While I just love your math harangue,
I’ll take my pie topped with meringue.
Karen, but is it not the mother lode
to have one’s pie served a la mode?
Ha!!
And don’t neglect
The wondrous pudge
Resulting from
Hot sauce of fudge!
I’m not here to judge,
and who am I to judge
your add to ice cream
(if this be your dream)
a dollop of healthy hot fudge.
Aargh.
Second line should have begrudge, not a repetition of judge.
Terri, thank you!
Delightful. For many reasons.
Wow, and congratulations for all you who understand it all, I just love to hear piano music.
Thank you!
Thank you for posting this. It was truly a wonder watching all the numbers go by and glancing at the positions of the keys. I wonder if the musical score is available for purchase anywhere! I’m going to look for sure.
This is amazing! Thank you so much for the music and the math facts. I just came here for the first time and see this incredible post. You’ve won my heart. I’m looking forward to what else you might have in store. Thank you!!!
Thank you for the beautiful music to brighten the day. Also, I loved all the comments. Thank you.
The biologist in me couldn’t love a good ode to pi more🥰
