Watch the miracle of growth in today’s video: a one-year time lapse of the growth of a mango tree. Starting with a seed.
Extraordinary to watch. But even more intriguing is that it will take another 3-5 years before it will bear fruit.
Think of the metaphor of the writing life. From the seed of an idea. Then writing 300 words a day for a year will create the foundation of a 100,000-word manuscript, one that must then be further nurtured until it can bear fruit.

Love this! God’s creation is amazing! Good metaphor for the writing life. From the seed of imagination and just a passing thought can lead to a work of art.

I was reading in the first chapter of Hebrews this morning and noticed a phrase in verse 3: “the word of His power.” I would have expected to read “power of His word,” but that was not the case. After praying and studying I found that this is a reference to the metaphysical power of Christ to hold together and sustain the universe. What a great God we serve who not only created the world and all that is in it, but daily tends to its every need – including producing a mango seed and causing a tree to grow from that seed.

Glory to God, our Creator!!! Such beauty!

What an amazing video! No actors, just one solitary seed doing what God intended it to do. Great metaphor for the writing process — and for so many other areas of life.

Absolutely beautiful! May we glorify Him with even half the elegance of this single seed!

Thank you for this analogy and video! I grew up in Florida, and we had mango trees when I was a child. We never made the effort to give away the fruit to others, so our yard became a mess of rotting mangos. I’ll be pondering this lesson today!

Fascinating, and perfectly timed. I was just telling myself last night I need to start writing again even if it was only a few hundred words a day. I met yesterday’s target.
I know I’ll probably change those few hundred words multiple times (possibly even delete most of them) before I believe it’s ready. But one can’t edit or share with the world what they haven’t written. Thanks for the encouragement.

Love this, and the thought that God can do all this, and does that and even more every day. Thank you for sharing. I live in Florida, and have started a mango from seed, now several years old, and planted in the yard at my granddaughters. She will love seeing this.

I loved this. I have a house plant that grows in a similar way to the mango tree, up through the middle. My marketing seed is struggling right now. This video is a reminder that my growth needs to surge from mind and heart, up through the middle of my being, slow but producing. Thank you for planting that thought.
