As an educator, I once could laugh but these days, these days the comedy is reality and makes me cry at the quality of education.
Back in days gone long before,
every ruddy rosy youth
did not need to know much more
than to ride, and tell the truth.
Then came all those ABCs,
and grammar books to make one sick
of all that, then if you please,
they added in arithmetic,
with algebra not far behind,
and chemistry up through organic,
which overtaxed many a mind,
sending multitudes into a panic
and thus made them Luddite and leery
when introduced to quantum theory.
Good one!

How funny! But public education these days…..
And this is why my husband and I are homeschooling our kids! It’s been invaluable for me too. I had no idea how dumb I was until I took a basic English grammar class with my kids a few years ago. Gold. Pure gold. But good grief! Why wasn’t that stuff taught when I was a kid?
