Writing can be a lonely, solo adventure.
Publishing, on the other hand, is rarely done well in isolation.
Today’s video is a metaphor for how publishing works.

Too many cooks can spoil the meal,
but spoilage ain’t what I have feared;
food makes for ambience and ‘feel’,
and many cooks can make it weird,
like what frat brothers did to me
when I brought a gal for dining-in.
Pot was steeped into kimchee,
and someone brought the durian
that stank like unto something dead.
The red mist rose in my gal’s eye
as she slowly shook her head,
and when dessert was garlic pie
she said, ‘Your try was good, it’s true,
but back home I have brothers, too.’

Very apt metaphor, writer, editor, agent, publisher. The music sounds great if you close your eyes, eight hands on a guitar looks too much like a human octopus.
