You thought the Lang Lang piano video was amazing the other week?
Watch this one by Denis Matsuev. I’m exhausted watching the inhuman speed with which he plays. The sheer muscle memory is breathtaking since I’m not anyone who could actually think that fast to make their fingers become a blur.
Be inspired that, with lots of hard work and lots of practice and a lifetime of mistakes, you, too, can be a writing virtuoso.

My mother’s fingers blurred when she played a lively arrangement with variations on “Jesus Loves Me.” If you’d like to hear it, contact me and I’ll connect you to a FB video we posted after she died. She spent untold hours in the practice room, and even in her eighties, she set aside time to practice pieces she played to accompany a choir. This is an excellent reminder: mastery of a craft, including writing, requires an investment of time. The diligent writer practices words, grammar, and characterization instead of arpeggios and scales to polish, hone, and execute a virtuoso manuscript. Thank you for making me smile today.

I’d like to see that video.

God be praised!!! And a big AMEN to your prayer that we too can become ‘virtuoso writers’ as God rewards our ‘lots of hard work, lots of practice and a life time of mistakes’ will be rewarded by God.
Thanks Mr Laube. God bless you.

His piece was also a mixture of tunes. Thus, we can write in more than one genre. The memory is also a necessary part as we develop our craft.

Astounding! I just sent the link to a young pianist I’m teaching. In his swift movement, the pianist kept perfect form! Practice, practice, practice! There’s a lesson for writers in this. My mama always told me “practice makes perfect.” Perhaps it could be reworded. “Practice produces proficiency.”

Just the mid-afternoon wake-me-up I needed on this first Friday in October! Thank you! He is amazing!

Wow! Love these musical posts. I used to play piano and even taught, but I am a rank beginner next to this man.

That was awesomely amazing! What an inspiration. I’ve played the piano for 54 years, but there’s no way I have played like that! I also am thankful for your comment about writing virtuosos. Although I don’t think I could write that fast either! LOL!
Thanks, Steve.

Eh, I could do that in my sleep…I can fly in my sleep too. 😉
