I have only three words in reaction to today’s video:
I want one.

Some people seem so very plain,
characters of beige and white
livings days that are mundane
enough to even lack a night,
but in their humble spirit-homes
one might espy a hidden door
guarded by cliché garden gnomes
that leads to something much, much more
than anyone might have foreseen,
even on long aquatintence,
something past a lovely dream
that’s reward for all the patience
with which we stayed in ordinary,
the portal to God’s library.

This poem speaks volumes, pun intended. But it is true – beneath every person I have met there are two eternal truths I have found that are common to us all:
Down deep there is in each of us true sadness (Avett Brothers nod)
and
True beauty and mystery and grandeur.
Loved this video and poem

I would LOVE a library like that. 🤩 Similarly, a hidden writing room/cave would also be great fun. ✨

I was sold at the spiral staircase. I love those! There is something about them in a library that is so nostalgic.

It looks like it may be a law library, so many volumes bound the same. I would love a space like that to read and write. But my library is far too diverse to look that unified on the shelves.

Me, too.

Dream on, Steve.
While we’re dreaming of libraries, here’s my secret (or public) library fantasy: One room contains sand, a small body of water, ceiling sunlight, and a lounge chair. The next room has a castle wall, clinging ivy vines, and a suit of armor. One room has a police headquarters or forensic lab or medical facility. One contains a mini jungle, a space module, a WW2 post, a southern plantation veranda. Oh, and while I’m at it, let’s include background music/sound effects and scent-producing devices. Of course, each room is fully stocked with fiction and non-fiction books relating to the setting.
This is my plan for when I make my J.K. Rowlings royalties (rolling on the floor laughing.)
