In the beginning was the Word,
says your Word, Lord.
You identify yourself as Word and Writer,
Speaker and Spoken.
You are the Source of all things.
Beginning.
Alpha.
First.
So let it be in me, and in my writing, Lord.
Be my first thought as I put pen to paper,
the Source and Supplier,
Word and Writer,
Speaker and Spoken.
Grant that I may pretend to no originality,
no creativity of my own,
but to be a thinker of your thoughts,
a writer of your words,
and herald of your good news
in all I write today,
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Shirlee Abbott
“A thinker of your thoughts.” Yes, Lord!
Thank you, Bob. You put words to my feelings–which is such a God-thing. I’m grateful to you–and God.
Christina Miller
This was beautiful. Thank you.

The Writer’s Prayer encompasses sufficient theology for a creed. I suspect coincidence was not a contributor.
Linda
Good poem to memorize !

Amen, let it be dear Lord. May You shine forth in every idea, truth,word written today. May readers be inspired, encouraged, informed, and directed to You. In Jesus name

Bob, what a terriic prayer!
Lord Tennyson referred to prayer
as a gold-linked chain, unflawed,
binding our world, worn with care
around the feet of God.
But every prayer-word comes from Him,
borrowed, then returned,
and we are as a fresh moon’s limb,
that shines as planet’s turned,
prideful in our crescent glow,
prideful in our clear cold light,
but at heart I think we know
that as we rule the dark of night
what we reflect is merely sum
of the brightness of the Son.
Susan Sage
That’s beautiful, Andrew. May I share it with a few friends? giving you attribution, of course.
Andrew Budek-Schmeisser
Susan, thank you, and share away!
And, if you have a minute, send some prayers. Things are not going well here; I have to fight on, but it’s getting so very hard.
Megan Schaulis
Jesus, as you sent supporters to lift Moses’ arms in battle, lift your son Andrew as he fights on. Go before him as a banner and behind him as a rear guard. Remind him you are his provider, defender, and deliverer. Amen.

Hi, Bob-
What blessed relief.
And, Amen.
Pamela Harstad
Awesome. I love this.
Colleen Snyder
Amen. May my FIRST thought be “what do YOU want me to say”? Too often, it’s “what do I want to say?” What a blessing… and a balm to this soul who struggles with the edict to “control the reader’s reactions” and “manipulate the reader’s emotions.” Say what God wants me to say, in a manner that brings Him glory. Thank you!
Lila Diller
Amen!
Katherine Pasour
Although we, as authors, all strive to do those, we often fail. Thank you for putting our mission and witness into words to live and write by.
Andrew Budek-Schmeisser
Guys, help, please…I need prayer, and need it now. Cancer’s winning.
For God’s sake, can you hear me?
I am now outfought
and will not stand on dignity;
send everything you’ve got.
My legs will not support my weight,
nor my lungs, my breath;
please tell me this is not my fate;
please tell me it’s not death.
I wait for running footfalls,
and voices of my friends;
I wait, caught now in fearful thrall;
is this how it ends?
I wait for what I do not hear;
for God’s sake, GET ME OUT OF HERE!
Cindy Fowell
Praying for you Andrew. May you know you’ve touched so many lives with your honesty, wit, and humor. Spreading God’s love and your faith in the midst of heartache and struggle.
Andrew Budek-Schmeisser
Cindy, thank you so much for this.
OLUSOLA SOPHIA ANYANWU
Andrew! Do NOT FORGET the power of the Word. Reverse your poem to the positive. Cancer is not winning!
‘Be a thinker of God’s thoughts’ for your life.
No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper[Is 54:17
The One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world [1 John 4:4]
For I know the thoughts I have for you says the Lord;thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome[ Jeremiah 29:11]
etc etc etc
As you create new words today and every day, write as a son of the Creator, create a new you and like creation, separate the darkness of hopelessness from you so that Light can come in; separate the chaos of worry, panic and tension from you so that order can repossess your thoughts ; cancer is not of God.Create a new name and believe that you will win this battle because you are going to use the whole armour of God to fight your battle. Speak the word to your crisis and listen to songs like ‘So will I, Ocean and The Blessing’ on You tube.
I never knew you had that ‘attack’ but I will join the army of Christ and with our weapons of prayer, we pray that you are invisible to the enemy and its ‘attack’ and I join the Saints of Christ to plead the BLOOD of Jesus Christ over you to perfect everything that concerns you and your health. Do not listen to the enemy trying to discourage you with the reality of your attack. Look on to Jesus Christ the Author and Finisher of your faith.
Thank you so much Bob for being a blessing to us all today. It inspired Andrew to cry out for help from your prayer. God bless you richly for the word you shared which has blessed me to be a blessing to Andrew.
I would also like to share your prayer on the ACW forum with your permission.
God bless you richly in Jesus Christs’s name, Amen.
Andrew Budek-Schmeisser
