In honor of our youngest daughter’s birthday this weekend…
She and I have laughed at this audio many times. To the point of being able to quote it. I was excited to find it available on YouTube (our version is a CD).
Listen and then you’ll understand this story: Years ago while in a very crowded elevator after watching a big event, I looked over at her and said, “Macadamia.” She deadpanned in reply, “Galoshes.” To this day we wonder what everyone in the elevator was thinking about us.
Happy Birthday!
Brennan McPherson
First minute and twenty five seconds are so uncomfortable to listen to.
But it’s worth the physical discomfort to hear the rest. Hah!
Rebekah Love Dorris
We are laughing out loud. And listening again!
Karen Saari
Funny!
We are a word family. When my sister and I are together this is our conversation if we have to go to the store.
“Celery?”
and the other says, “Lettuce!”
(Shall we? ….. Let us!)
Sometimes you just have to be willing to venture off the beaten path 🙂
Damon J. Gray
Ugh!! That is embarrassingly ridiculous. Why am I laughing? Worse yet, why am I listening to it again?
Tisha Martin
Because it’s the simple pleasures of life that make life happy and … full of galoshes and laughter and buses! 😉 Not to mention the catchy tune…
Sheri Dean Parmelee, Ph.D
I was almost in tears from this incredible…whatever you call it……Hysterical!
Tisha Martin
Did I hear “plethora”? YES!!! They should have added “penultimate”! Oh my gosh, this needs to be incorporated into a skit at the next writer’s conference! (I’m a soprano and sang in a huge choir for Rejoice TV for two years and throughout college, if anyone’s interested…) 😀
BUS! My sides hurt… Love it! Listening to this again, and again, and again…
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious…
Angela Carlisle
Lol, Tisha! I’ll sing alto to your soprano.
Tisha Martin
OK! Let’s take this to the Mount Hermon Writers’ Conference board committee!! Next year’s skit? We’d have to get Andrea Coli involved too!
Angela Carlisle
Sounds good! I’m also working on a Writer’s version of Who’s on First ?
Tisha Martin
That sounds like it will be great!!

… spatula and macadamia go together… but tuberculosis and gabardine? *wow*, still laughing!
Ann L Coker
I look forward to your Fun Fridays. This one is truly funny. Now to decide who should get a forward.
Judi Clarke
What a hoot! Words are such a blast.
Marcia Laycock

This is hilarious! I may have embarrassed myself at lunch by insisting on finishing the audio even after my coworkers joined me, but ?
Tisha Martin
Did you tell them they were brave for joining you in your writerly fun? 😉
KT Sweet
Hilarious. Delightful! Who knew bouffant, beluga blubber could be so entrancing? LOL
Tisha Martin
And tuberculosis!
Claire O'Sullivan
I am posting this on FB. Maybe WordPress. And… my website.
Great laugh. Gotta save it for my weird family. As a kid, my best friend and I would do something similar but we would bust a gut between words.
Word hoarding at its finest.
Heather Marsten
Funny!! Thanks for the smile. I will never think of galoshes and macadamia the same way.
Natalie Nyquist
One of my brothers and I have been doing this for years, to the point I forgot where it came from. I just know all I ever have to do is look at him and say “beluga” and game’s on. Just sent him the link again….thanks for the fun memories.

On the way home from a Florida trip, my sisters and I played the word game, where we had to look for an object that started with the word “p.” There was a Peterbilt semi, and a Prius. But you can imagine how it went, laughter all the way…for nearly two hours…
