Thankfulness is a gift we give ourselves.
Why be Grateful?
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, now is an ideal time to revisit our reasons for gratitude.
I’m thankful for the God we serve, a merciful God Who loves us no matter what mistakes we make and who rejoices in what we try to do to please Him.
I’m grateful for the people in my life and that the Lord meets my needs and beyond. That’s only a start. If I were to compose a list, this blog post would be so long that no one would read it.
Social Media
I’ve taken a break from social media, and now I’ll try to be more active by sharing helpful and uplifting posts. Since, as industry professionals, we’re all on social media, I’ll dedicate the rest of this gratitude post to Christians on social media.
Trusting Christian Writers
I’m grateful I can trust the writers I follow to offer God-honoring words I can safely post anywhere. My purpose in sharing articles is to inform and uplift, not to offend. I don’t need to add drama to my life by creating fights to send zingers to people who disagree with me. Negative engagement, especially with strangers online, is not about the issue or debaters. Disputes are about showing off with clever retorts. Here, winning is losing. That’s not how I want to spend my time. I respect you enough that I don’t ask you to spend your time fighting, either.
Appreciating You
I’ll add how much I appreciate those who read this blog and follow me on social media. You make my little corner of the online world a lovely place to be.
May every day you live be a blessed and joyous celebration of gratitude.

I’m grateful for my family,
my dogs and my dear wife,
and for God’s eternity,
the life beyond this life.
I’m grateful for the kitty cat
who always climbs a curtain
in a constant search for that
peak high of which she’s certain.
I’m grateful for the desert sky
showcasing the bright Milky Way,
and for loud Blackhawks that fly
over the house most every day;
they train to bring pain from above
to defend this land I love.

Oh, and a grateful tip of the hat to God for waking me at three am to change the filament spool on a 3d printer that was about to run out 43 hours into a 48 hour print.
At first I tried to grab the credit…my experience and finely honed understanding of the rate of filament usage set an alarm clock in my head…but I’ve only been doing this for three months, so I guess God got a good laugh out of that.
Thanks, Mate!

I love it when God does stuff like that! He truly cares about what’s important to us.

Indeed he does care, Pam…and He has time for us… individually.

The longer I live, the more grateful I am to God for pretty much everything.
Of course, I’m not thankful my daughter’s daily seizures, but I *am* thankful we live in a time where she can see a neurologist and can get meds and a VNS that has decreased the number she has. And with the last battery change in the VNS, there’s a new setting on the device that monitors her heart rate. It will kick on immediately when the seizure starts. While we haven’t seen fewer daily seizures, we have seen shorter ones. Those 20 minute seizures are exhausting for her AND for us!
Mostly, I’m thankful this world is temporary. In eternity, not only will we have new bodies and new lives, we’ll be face to face with our Lord!

As I mentioned on my Agent page on Facebook, I am uplifted and blessed by all your comments today. Thank you!

Thank you, Tamela. Anytime we express gratitude, our hearts are humbled, forcing us to look beyond everyday situations. We have so much to be grateful for. I agree with your thoughts on social media interaction and refuse to argue with anyone. Maintaining a Christian attitude and presence online can be challenging at times but also the most rewarding as we handle it properly. Happy Thanksgiving!
