Another Writer’s Hymn
(based on and drawing from a hymn by William Freeman Lloyd)
__________
My times are in your hand;
my God, I wish them there;
my life, my soul, my words,
I leave entirely to your care.
My times are in your hand,
whatever I may do;
to write, to publish, soon or late,
as may seem best to you.
My times are in your hand;
I need not rush or fear;
I know your hand will never cause
your child a needless tear.
My times are in your hand;
I’ll wait and trust your plan,
and know my writing hopes and dreams
are safely in your hands.

Beautiful and so full of truth.

Bob, this is beautiful, a gift.
Lord, my words are in Your hands,
but I’ll need help with some pages,
for not every reader understands
“Amish Zombies Go To Vegas.”
My betas from the very start
gnash and grind their molars
when the boys arrive in horse and cart
and soon become high rollers.
Some have found it laughable
that they summon fiancees undead
and clip-clop to the Little White Chapel,
where by Elvis they are wed.
Yes, they opt for drive-thru service,
but need they limo, or a hearse?

Thank you, Bob! I always appreciate your posts both here and on Guideposts. They both nurture my prayer life and encourage my writer’s heart.
Thank you, again, for sharing this beautiful prayer!

A great truth that God is always in control, even of my writing. His timing is perfect. When trying to meet a goal or deadline, my time is His time. Thank You!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! God gave “for such a time as this” – when I needed it the most (doesn’t He always??) Thank you for sharing it. Thank you for WRITING it. And posting it. I’m headed to my first writing conference… and have been somewhat apprehensive. Now I can go in peace, being reminded that it’s all Him – as it has always been and ever will be.

Amen.
Daily prayers, however, wherever, whomever I speak to, I pray God to lead/guide me in every word.
Doesn’t always happen, however, as I pray to remain in His presence every minute of the day, just sometimes I listen and walk accordingly.

Very beautiful hymn…and words that I think all Christian writers have said one time or another to our Lord! He is indeed good!

Bob,
I received your email “Another Writer’s Hymn” at a pivotal time in my life as a writer. I read it more like a prayer. When I pray your hymn, it calms me down, as I cannot help but place my efforts into the hands of the Lord. You say the very words I need to pray every day. Thank you.

Beautiful – thanks for sharing.

Bob, one thing I have noticed is that God’s timing and ours are not always the same. It’s hard to wait on God while continuing to work hard at our craft but He knows when the time is right and we are ready…
