At the recent Blue Ridge Christian Writers Conference last month there were some creative people who made Bob Hostetler and I the target of some memes.
Enjoy the “hilarity.”

Then came the evening where a few would not go their rooms until they had Lobby time with Laube. “Honestly” I’ve never heard that joke before!
It was fun telling some of the crazy stories of book ideas I’ve heard. And some of the unusual “fan mail” that Lynette Eason has received. There were two hours of non-stop story-telling and laughter.

If you come to that conference next year, we might have to do it again. If Bob or I am invited back…hmmm.
Lynette Eason
LOL!! Yes, love the lobby/Laube time! As well as the Hancock-Murray time, of course. Can’t wait for next year!
*Note: The puppy with no pie and no friends is still my favorite.
Karen Bell
Loved listening to you tell stories until midnight. Didn’t enjoy it so much the next morning when I was supposed to meet Bob at breakfast. Of course, Lobby Time is one of the best things about “that conference.” Sometimes you learn more in the lobby than in the classroom.

I think it should have said, “Bob Hostetler and me.” Yes?

Writers who attend writers conferences nervously approach our fifteen minutes with an agent to pitch our “life’s” work. Its hard for us, and its hard for agents too. But after its all said and done, we need to be able to poke some fun into those moments. I laughed so hard! I love Fun Fridays!
Cathy Krafve
You guys have way too much fun!

I love it! Those radioactive frogs are the best part of the story, I’m sure. Would love to read about it. When’s that book coming out?
By the way, Steve, my college student success blog just re-launched yesterday. I would love to see what you think about it. You can find it at http://www.practicalmakesperfect.com
I appreciate any insight you can give on improving it, though I just paid big bucks to have it re-done. That said, it contains no radioactive frogs….
Kathleen Denly
Too cute. Sounds like a fun conference. 🙂

I don’t know Bob very well. I’ll have to rectify that next year. I fit in with crazy people quite well.
Steve Laube
Not quite sure how to safely reply to that admission.

This is how tired I am. This morning I read the title and thought it said, “Conference Article,” and got excited because I love reading about conferences! Had not a moment to comment until tonight, and then I reread the title. Oh. Well, yeah, antics sure makes a difference… 😀 Lobby with Laube—that’s hilatirous. (Yes, that was on purpose.)
I have yet to attend Blue Ridge and have heard such fantastic things about it. I’m sure Edie and Diann are the cause behind all the ruckus and poking fun at the agents. But really, calling Bob mean? Tsk, tsk, he’s the nicest guy on the block … unless he rejected Michelle and Cindy. But I wouldn’t call that “mean.” 😉 Oh for pity’s sake, I’m laughing too hard…
Radioactive frogs … oh my soul, I am glad they only appear in a book. I can only imagine what kind of plot that would be! (And someone please fix the “its”… it’s making my editor’s brain hurt … unless there’s a joke behind it?)
Steve Laube
According to the person who created the meme, the software removed the apostrophe from “its”. Sorry.
Tisha Martin
Oy! I’d ban that software… 😉

“Honestly” you’ve never heard the Laube-Lobby joke before. “Oh, really?!” Sighhhhh . . .
Steve Laube
Hard to write sarcasm without describing the rolling of the eyes. But then if taken literally that would mean I used my eyes like a pair of dice. Ewww.
Molly Jo Realy at Frankly, My Dear . . .
I try not to roll my eyes much. Realy. I mean, really.
