I live with a Sense of Porpoise,
a breaching cartwheel through the air,
and thus am not cetacean tortoise,
and neither am a piscine hare,
for the worthies have one dimension
in which they live (so sad, but true)
while in my swimming and ascension,
I better them with two.
Yes, of course they have their place,
but really should not put on airs,
and as for who wins Aesop’s race,
hang it, man, who cares
when you can draw a grateful eye
to my cavort in sea and sky.

Oh, Andrew, you never disappoint! I love how you slip in a life lesson as you frolic and cartwheel thru cerulean skies of words. Thanks, bro.
PS— I think that race was rigged. That wascally wabbit was not a hare. Someone steroided the turtle! Rematch!!!!

Karen, I am so glad you enjoyed this!
And yeah… definitely rigged.

“Slow and steady. Steady and slow. That’s the way we always go.” A quote from my daughters’ favorite version of this fable.
Thanks Steve for the answer on finishing this day.

Some days I’m the tortoise. Some days I’m the hare.
Some days I’m the windshield. Some days I’m the bug.

Thank you, Lois. I love “The Bug” by Mary Chapin Carpenter.

Thank you, Steve, for the fun race. I root for the tortoise with the hard shell of perseverance every time.
