Do you ever have a physical, visceral reaction to something you don’t want to do?
Like write a book proposal? Or write the middle third of your book? Get up in front of a thousand people to speak?
Today’s video is the hilarious drama-queen response of a dog getting her nails clipped.
I’ll have to admit, this is awfully close to my reaction when I have to have blood drawn. If I watch, I’m toast. Now you know my kryptonite!

That video is very funny. I have several cats that are programmed to academy award performances when they need nail clipping. I feel more like that dog when the job is done. Thank you for the laugh. Marilyn

So funny! Yes, I have this type of response to queries, proposals, one-sheets, etc.! OK, so I don’t quite faint, but I wish I could in order to get out of the panic moment. Lol! Thanks for sharing the laugh again today. I always look forward to Fun Fridays.

Ha ha! Our Princess Leia Freyja is similar about the scale at the vet’s office. It takes 2 or three people to get her onto it, ha!

Too funny! I used to be a wimp when smelling rubbing alcohol before a blood draw or an injection! I finally outgrew its trauma, but back then, I passed out every time I went to the doctor, and they rubbed my arm with alcohol. Shot my dreams of becoming a nurse to bits. So, now I am writing. Haha!

Our 65 lb greyhound used to whimper and howl when he was getting his nails clipped. I was afraid the Humane Society would show up at my door.
I’m sure he never has to endure this torture again now that he’s in doggie heaven.

I’ve always hated needles, too. So, when I decided on a career in healthcare, I wondered how I could manage starting IVs on patients–even watching someone else do it made me flinch. A friend in one of my classes was a year ahead of me in the program, so I asked him how he handled the needle sticks. He said, “I was dreading it my first time, but somebody’s got to do it. So, I just focused on the process and when I finished, I thought, ‘Huh–that didn’t hurt a bit.’” He shot me a smile. It was a valuable lesson. In healthcare, we need to have compassion for our patients, but we can’t step inside their shoes if we want to accomplish the sometimes-painful parts that help them heal. Later, when I was employed at a hospital, I started many IVs daily, and we kept a reclining chair handy in case a patient became faint. Yet, despite my years of experience starting IVs, I still can’t watch when someone is sticking me.

That was so funny! We have a small dog who trembles when he recognizes we are at the vet’s office. I look forward to your Fun Fridays each week. Please keep them coming.
