I once had to teach a class
in elasticity,
and math turned ’round and bit my…uh, burro
in glad ferocity
when writing a prolonged equation
I went and lost my ordinates
and had to use imagination
to make the whole darn thing make sense,
and so I slipped with adroit grace
(or so my inflamed ego thought)
from xyz to polar space,
and it seemed the students bought
my side-step move without a wiggle
until they all started to giggle.
Pursuant to last week’s Fun Friday about recycling material (a la Disney animation), Richard Rodgers did the same with his tango Under The Southern Cross from Victory At Sea, using it as the melody for the lovely ‘No Other Love’ in the musical Juliet And Me.
I am always amazed at how creative the mind is!!! Who thinks up all these things, and then is able to make it play!!! Wow! Way over my head!!! But it is fun to watch! Thank you!!!

Perry Como sings it well. Check out YouTube!

Very clever and proof that math doesn’t have to be boring.
Yvonne Ortega
That math class was not at all boring.

I might have enjoyed math if even one of my teachers had made it entertaining
