Today is National Punctuation Day!
Established by Jeff Rubin in 2004, it is a “celebration of the lowly comma, correctly used quotation marks, and other proper uses of periods, semicolons, and the ever mysterious ellipsis.”

Recently, I walked into a church classroom to find a list of the 10 Commandments on the board. The first line read “No other God’s.”
Sigh.
So while you take a moment to appreciate the need for precise punctuation, enjoy this delightful five-minute repartee between Dean Martin and Victor Borge singing with Phonetic Punctuation. The video is a bit blurry as it must have been clipped from an old video tape or similar. But hilarious nonetheless!

That was great and so entertaining! Where has that clean, funny, entertainment gone??
Hilarious. Made me laugh out loud.
Happy Punctuation Day! (How do you spell an exclamation point?)
My friend and colleague of 30 years is Jerry Jenkins who told of an instruction he received from his father, as I recall, regarding proper punctuation. Jerry was given the following sentence to punctuate:
John where Mary had had had had had had had had had had had the correct punctuation
Enjoy the challenge
Victor Borge is one of my all-time favorites! Thanks for sharing.
I’ve seen Victor do this alone, but not with someone. This routine never gets old!
So what is the phonetic version of an interrobang?

I was sitting here tonight, trying to get get through editing two manuscripts without yawning. Now I am laughing, energized, and editing out loud! Thank you for making it fun.
I’m lousy at punctuation, but if I could just sing it, I’d be a pro! Love Dino and Vic!
Brilliantly hilarious. Thanks for the fun!
Classic Victor Borge! So funny and perfect for National Punctuation Day.
So much fun. My husband and I laughed the entire time. We’ve seen Victor Borge do the punctuation skit before just never with someone else while singing. Hilarious. Thanks for posting this. It might be one of my favorites of all time.
Please don’t publish this comment, but shouldn’t the sentence read “…go to its native address”, not “it’s native address”?
