Six Tough Truths About Self-Publishing (That the Advocates Never Seem to Talk About) – Rob Hart writes an insightful and cautionary tale. (caution: some flagrant language is used)
22 Rules of Story Telling According to Pixar – This is an excellent article for every novelist to read.
The Amazon Effect – Read this 6,200 word article from “The Nation” very carefully. It will help to understand the economics of publishing and the market shifts that have been occurring these past few years.
10 Great Science Fiction Novels for People Who Don’t Read Sci-Fi – I have to say that I agree with only four of their choices. Such is the nature of reading and recommending fiction! (Of the 10 I would choose Card, Bester, Shelley, and Herbert.)

I always appreciate the News You Can Use articles. I rarely have time to read them all. I appreciated the Pixar Story Rules today. Some great reminders and suggestions in there!
Oh, and where can I get one of the “Do Not Disturb” collars? 🙂

As always good information, Steve. Thanks for scouring the internet to find helpful items. It may just be me, but you may want to warn people to the bits of shall I say, “colorful” language in the first article. As usual, these are great Steve!!
Apparently I read extremely fast. I read a Jeanette Windle book in 2 days. I read the Help in a day and a half. That includes sleep. But I’ve always been like that. Now all my kids are speed readers too.
And yes, I need one of those “do not disturb” collars too.

Thanks for the great articles!
