BREAKING NEWS!
Startling industry news. HarperCollins will purchase Thomas Nelson by the end of this calendar year. HarperCollins already owns Zondervan (which they purchased in 1988). The combination will create the largest and most dominant Christian publishing company in the world.
Wow.
Here is the official press release.
Okay, so I’ve seen the news…what does this mean exactly for writers/ authors? I guess I’ve always viewed TN as the indomitable publisher. What does that speak for Thomas Nelson that they are selling to HC??
Yowza. Well, once again it goes to prove that, in this business, the one thing that always stays the same is that absolutely nothing always stays the same.
I wonder how this will differ from Baker Publishing owning both Revell and Bethany House? I remember there was lots of angst when Bethany House was sold.
I am shocked!
Yikes, so Rubert Murdock now owns the two of the largest Christian publishing houses. Guard your cell phone messages!
Holy HarperCollins, Batman! What next?
What a surprise! Hopefully it will be a great transition and allow the Christian market to have an even greater reach.
I’m stunned and a bit nervous. What does it mean to whom?
Very stealth. Wow. Praying for the good people (left) at TNP…
