Every year, millions of people set out to write a memoir; and every year, most of them fail. Memoirs are hard to write and even harder to sell to publishers and readers. And yet, every year, millions of readers buy and read memoirs. So how do you write a memoir worth reading?
To help answer that question, we will be talking with a New York Times bestselling author who has helped write a number of memoirs. She directs the West Coast Christian Writers Conference and is currently enrolled in seminary. A new endeavor is Everything Memoir, a growing and diverse community for people writing a memoir or personal story. Susy Flory, welcome to the Christian Publishing Show!

Andrew Budek-Schmeisser
Don’t want to write a memoir,
don’t want to share my past,
because it really was a bore
from the first unto the last.
Don’t want to tell my story
for it was pretty lame,
no arc or trajectory
worthy of the name.
I don’t want to remember
the man that I have been,
for here in life’s December
there’s still a chance to win
that treasure lying round the bend,
one last score ere the end.
