The first 30 days your book is for sale sets the tone for the lifetime of your book. Many physical stores stock new releases for fewer than 90 days. If they don’t sell, they return them to the publisher. If they sell out, the bookstores order more. The online store algorithms show books that receive the most clicks. So the more people who investigate yours, the more people will see it in their searches. Without a good launch, a book can die before it gets a chance to reach readers. Don’t let that happen to you!
With nearly 5,000 new books published every week–yes, every week–it is easy for your book to get lost in the noise. An effective book launch campaign is one of the best ways to break through.
But how do you launch a book? What is a book launch? Isn’t that the publisher’s job?
That is what Thomas Umstattd, Jr. and I will talk about in a free webinar this Thursday, March 7, at 4 p.m. (central time)–three days from now. He will discuss several secrets about successful book launches and share some tips on how you can have a solid launch with yours. A part of the presentation will be an encouragement to sign up for his month-long course. I highly recommend it. Register for this event so we can send you a reminder before it begins. Sign up now. (Clicking on these links will take you to a CrowdCast.io page. It is the software we use to run the seminar. It is safe to register.)
The first 30-45 minutes will be Thomas’s presentation; then, I will join him to answer your questions in a Q&A session.
Hopefully, you’ll want to dig deeper and sign up for his 28-day Book Launch Blueprint course, co-taught with James Rubart. The price of that course includes nearly $500 worth of free resources. To find out more, click this Book Launch Blueprint Course link. Invest in the information you need to launch your book successfully. I heartily recommend it.
I invite you to join us this Thursday. Register now, take the poll, post your questions, then come back and vote on the questions others have asked. During the second hour, we will answer the questions related to launching a book that have the most votes.
If you cannot attend live, the webinar will be recorded and available for free to all who have registered.
Make this part of your Spring 2024 writers’ education efforts, focusing on what you can do from the comfort of your own home.

Highly recommend. Have taken Thomas’s month-long course and learned volumes from Steve’s wisdom and experience. If Steve or Thomas is teaching, I’m there — whether for free or fee.

Launch your new book down the ways,
let champagne anoint its spine,
let it float upon the bay’s
waters with a grace sublime,
helped along by Steve and Tom
through their salty webinar
infused with years of sharp aplomb
worthy of a seasoned tar.
With their help spread broad the sails,
and slipping sheets let canvas bend
to catch the breeze that now prevails,
though unfamiliar, as your friend,
and make now for the open sea
for grand adventure’s victory!

Great timing for me, Steve. Hoping to join in person. Thanks!

Thanks for the webinar–lots of food for thought, lots of good ideas. You mentioned an author who told you that her novel was instrumental in a young woman’s spiritual life. I am the team leader for the blog Books 4 Christian Kids. We are always on the lookout for books that will be a positive influence in a young person’s life. Could you let me know via my email, the name of the author and possibly the name of her novel? I would like to order her book and see if we can recommend it. Thank you.

Steve Laube; The book launch webinar was very helpful and thank you for answering my question about having a small platform. It gave me a new perspective about where I am as a novelist and what I need to do to move forward. I’ve been following your blog for a long time and it’s been a great tool for this budding novelist and have shared it with other writers I know.
