2017 Christian Writers Market Guide Now Online!

The 2017 edition of The Christian Writers Market Guide is officially available in print and ebook (paperback $22.99, ebook $9.99). Check your favorite bookstore or online retailer for a copy. Make sure you have a copy of this book in your arsenal!

We are also very excited to announce that all the content of the guide is now available online via a subscription service (click here to see for yourself). The advantage to you is that the entries will be updated throughout the year. As soon as we get new information or a new entry or a correction, it will be in the online edition.

The web site is under the URL of www.christianwritersmarketguide.com.

We’ve worked very hard at The Christian Writers Institute to program this new site to meet your needs. You can search the entire database and surf listings just like you do with the print or ebook edition. You can save entries for later access, thereby customizing your account to meet your needs. You can even print out your personalized listings for reference.

For example, the picture below is a screen shot of a search in the periodical section for the topic of “poetry.” The left hand column shows how many results can be found for each category and the right hand, main screen, shows alphabetical links to each magazine found in the results.

In addition, the site is designed to be responsive so it will render well on any device: desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. This makes the Guide available to you anytime, anywhere.

Below is the special pricing we have for the online edition.

Who Needs Another Marriage Book?

Today is Don’s and my 37th anniversary. Don likes to say we’ve been happily married for 20 years, and that’s not bad out of 37. <grin> While he’s being funny, he’s also being honest. Ours has not been an easy marriage. We’ve been through many years of counseling with pastors, friends, and professional counselors. To say we’ve learned a lot is a major understatement. And quite a bit of it has …

If Christmas Was Fiction, It Would Make No Sense

When I have been part of a Bible study or discussion group, I am often affected deeply by the flawed nature of every human discussed in Scripture, except for the God/Man who came at Christmas. In a sense, it is base-level proof of the truthfulness and reliability of the Bible. The Bible as pure propaganda certainly wouldn’t include sordid tales of our predecessors screwing up more than they …

Exclamation Points!!! Avoid or Embrace?!

I love using exclamation points! Don’t you? How about interrobang sentences?! Finally, I think we should bring those back, don’t you?! And not just in dialogue, but in narrative! Finally, shouldn’t readers just really ought to be able to keep up with run-on sentences, no matter how complex, or whether or not they stay on topic, and I wonder how many people could diagram a sentence that’s simple, …

Are Deadlines Killing Your Christmas?

Remember the days when all we had to do at Christmas time was sip hot chocolate, trim the tree, and wrap gifts, all while listening to Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole croon out those wonderful old carols? Yeah, me neither. For so many of us, Christmas has become another item on our To-Do list. One that we keep moving as deadlines grow ever more dire. It’s crazy. This time of year, the time when we …

Christian Criticism

Most agents to the Christian publishing world represent a variety of authors from a wide spectrum of theological thought, so we understandably have a little more forgiving attitude than others about differences between fellow believers. There is one type of book I have always felt uncomfortable representing…one which criticizes a certain theological stand, a particular church group or even a …

We Care, But We Must Choose

If you go through my trash, you might think I’m the world’s worst person. Why? Because my discarded mail might lead a casual observer to think that I don’t care about: The paralyzed. The blind. Amputees. Orphans. Israelites. Health needs overseas. Impoverished people living overseas. People suffering with: Lupus Muscular Dystrophy AIDS Multiple Sclerosis Emphysema Diabetes Heart disease. Cancer …
